Teen Clinic provides low/no cost reproductive health care services for teens from 12 to 19. Our special program is staffed by youth that are specifically trained to counsel youth about sexually transmitted diseases, birth control methods and making health choices. We also have doctors and nurses on staff that are sensitive to needs of youth. Stop by during our walk-in hours to learn more about our programs!

Here at Teen Access, we are dedicated to include male youth. We have special "Male Exams" that include and exam, STD testing and confidential HIV testing and counseling. Our Health Educators also provide specialized one-on-one health education at local schools and correctional facilities.

We also have experienced and trained health education staff that provide classes to local high schools, colleges, youth shelters, correctional facilities and other youth agencies.

The following classes are provided:

Each class is approximately one (1) hour. Classes may be scheduled anytime from 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday. Please contact us at 858-279-0444 to schedule a time that works for you.

Birth Control

All birth control methods will be discussed, including abstinence. Topics will include how each birth control method affects your body, side effects, and advantages/disadvantages of each method.

Sexually Transmitted diseases

Classes on STD's explain each disease and how you can transmit the diseases. We explain how you can get an STD, what it looks like and the symptoms associated with each STD.

HIV/AIDS

This class will define HIV/AIDS. It explains transmission, prevention, risk reduction, testing and living with HIV/AIDS.

Healthy Relationship/Communication

This class focuses on relationships/peer pressure and how choices affect your life and the lives of others. Topics include communication, violence and societal expectations.

Teaching about Puberty and Reproduction

Explains the male and female reproductive system. Provides an overview of the menstrual cycle and gives an explanation of the process of labor and delivery. Discusses annual exams, PAP smears, self examinations, and testicular self-examination.

Drugs and Alcohol

Discusses different types of drugs and how they relate to STD's/HIV. Explains that being under the influence of drugs can greatly affect your judgment and behavior and may make it difficult to make decisions.

Male Reponsibility

Discusses the realities of being a teen parent, legal responsibilities and fatherhood. Talks about goal setting, school and job possibilities.

Parent Education Class

Discusses with parents the services offered at the clinic. Also provides some suggestions re: talking to kids about abstinence, sex and protection.
